BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Following a standout performance on the gridiron in the season finale, University of Tennessee at Martin edge rusher Keyshawn Johnson was rewarded with his second OVC-Big South Football Association Defensive Player of the Week honor of the season.
A native of Belle Glade, Fla., Johnson put the finishing touches on a record-setting season for the Skyhawks by tallying a career-high 10 tackles (six solo), 3.5 tackles for loss (for -13 yards), 2.0 sacks (for -9 yards) and a quarterback hurry as UT Martin fell by three points to No. 6 ranked Tennessee Tech in its season finale. The contest marked the fourth game this season with multiple sacks.
With two full sacks against the Golden Eagles, Johnson set a new UT Martin single-season record with 13.5 (surpassing the old mark of 13 by Emanuel McNeil set in 1988). He ranks third nationally in sacks (1.13/game) and tackles for loss (1.67/game).
