Tate Surber Named OVC Rookie of the Week

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – University of Tennessee at Martin redshirt freshman quarterback Tate Surber was recognized as the Ohio Valley Conference Rookie of the Week following his performance in last week's matchup against Austin Peay.
A native of McKenzie, Tenn., Surber completed 20-of-27 pass attempts for 175 yards and a touchdown against Austin Peay in his second career start. He was highly efficient in the first half against the No. 11 ranked Governors, completing 11-of-12 pass attempts while throwing a three-yard touchdown pass to Kaleb Costner to give the Skyhawks an advantage heading into the break.
Surber has started the last two contests for the Skyhawks and currently ranks second in the OVC and 16th nationally in completion percentage (67.3 percent).
