11/11/2025 4:11:00 PM | Football
The University of Tennessee at Martin football team makes its home finale when playing host to OVC-Big South Football Association foe Charleston Southern on Saturday, Nov. 15. The contest serves as the program's annual Military Appreciation Day in conjunction with Senior Day leading into kickoff at 1 p.m. on ESPN+.
UT Martin will show its appreciation for our active duty and military veterans by providing complimentary admission in conjunction with Veterans Day and its Military Appreciation Game. In addition to the program's additional military programming throughout the contest, the Skyhawks will also honor its senior class with a pregame ceremony beginning at approximately 12:30 p.m.
Collectively, the Class of 2025 has been a part of four consecutive conference championships in 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 while posting the program's lone FCS playoff victories in 2021 and 2024. As a whole, the team has recorded 42 victories including a 26-5 mark (83.9 percent) against league opponents since 2021.
The Skyhawks (5-5, 5-1 OVC-Big South) enter their final homestand riding a four-game winning streak and sitting in sole possession of second place in the Association standings. During the stretch, UT Martin has committed just one turnover while dominating the ground attack by tallying 233.5 rushing yards per game and limiting opponents to just 50.2 rushing yards per game.
The ground attack was especially potent in last week's matchup against Tennessee State when UT Martin tallied 53 carries for 292 rushing yards while limiting the Tigers to -12 yards on the ground. Running backs Tommy Ansley (118 yards) and Chris Franklin (111 yards) both eclipsed the 100-yard mark for the first time in their Skyhawks careers while quarterback Jase Bauer found the endzone twice for the third time this season.
Charleston Southern (4-6, 3-3 OVC-Big South) has turned a corner in the third season under Gabe Giardina while winning three straight games heading into last week's bye week. Linebacker Steve Zayachkowsky leads the Association with 92 tackles on the season while Justin Waters paces the group with eight forced fumbles.
Saturday's contest marks the fourth meeting between the two programs in a series which dates back to 1994 with UT Martin winning each of the three previous matchups. Charleston Southern has visited Martin on two prior occasions back in 1994 and 2023 with the Skyhawks averaging 33 points per game against the Buccaneers all-time.
The game will be streamed exclusively on ESPN+ with Davis Gregory (play-by-play), John Hatler (analyst) and Chris Brinkley (analyst) calling the action. Locally fans can tune into the Skyhawk Sports Network with games broadcast on WCMT "Talk and News You Can Use!" and simulcast on 1410 AM, 100.5 FM, 92.7 FM, 96.1 FM, 99.7 FM and 103.3 FM.
