
Skyhawks Begin Quest For OVC Championship With SIUE

MARTIN, Tenn. – The sixth-seeded University of Tennessee at Martin soccer team will play its first game of the 2025 Ohio Valley Conference Championship Thursday against seventh-seeded SIUE at 3 p.m. at Lindenwood in Saint Charles, Missouri. The winner of the match advances to play third-seeded Lindenwood Sunday at 1 p.m.
UT Martin is making its 23rd appearance in the championship and its ninth in as many seasons. The Skyhawks have reached the championship game on six occasions and have won the tournament twice, in 2011 and 2012. Overall, UT Martin has a record of 9-17-3 in the championship.
The Skyhawks enter the tournament leading the league in goals allowed and goals against average, both at 0.83. They are also fourth in the OVC in shutouts with six and third in shots per game at 13.67.
Peyton Cook leads the Skyhawks on the season with six goals, while Anna Østergaard Ibsen has two. Addy McCleary leads the Skyhawks in assists with four, while Cook and Ava Huntrods each have three.
In goal, Mac Titus is 3-5-8 on the season with six shutouts. She currently leads the OVC in save percentage at 87.0-percent and goals against average at 0.76. Her average is currently the second-best single-season average in school history.
Thursday will be the 23rd all-time meeting between SIUE and the Skyhawks, with the Skyhawks leading the series at 11-10-1. UT Martin has won each of the last two meetings in the series, including a 5-1 victory over the Cougars at home last Sunday. The two teams have met four times in the OVC tournament, with SIUE winning three of the four contests.
