UT Martin had a roller coaster of a game against Tennessee State, but ultimately fell to the Tigers, 77-61, Tuesday night at the Gentry Center in Nashville.
The Skyhawks trailed by just three points at the end of the first quarter, 16-13, but gave up a single-quarter season-high 29 points in the second and trailed by 15 at the break. 45-50. In the third, the Skyhawks clawed their way back into the game by outscoring the Tigers, 20-5, in the frame, leaving the game tied at 50 after three complete. However, in the fourth, UT Martin gave up 26 points and ultimately fell by 16.
Anaya Brown led UT Martin the game with 15, while Shae Littleford and Kaitlyn McCarn followed at 13 and 10, respectively. Brown also had a team-high six boards in the game, while Kenley McCarn had five to go along with team-highs of three steals and two blocks.
Tennessee Tech defeated Tennessee State Thursday in Nashville, 71-64 and is now 13-5 overall and 7-2 in OVC play. Tennessee Tech currently averages 69.2 points per game on 42.1-percent shooting, while opponents also shoot 42.1-percent against them with an average of 68.8 points per game. Reghan Grimes leads four Golden Eagles averaging 10-plus points per game, while Anna Walker leads her team on the glass at 6.78 boards per game.
