MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin men's basketball squad goes for its third consecutive victory tomorrow when it pays a visit to the Lindenwood Lions in an Ohio Valley Conference showdown. Tipoff time from St. Charles, Mo. is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
The Skyhawks are 4-1 all-time against Lindenwood and will be making their third trip to Robert F. Hyland Arena since the Lions joined the OVC in 2022. UT Martin has split its previous stops at Lindenwood, falling 80-75 in 2023 before roaring back for a 106-82 triumph in 2024.
On Thursday, the Skyhawks (7-9, 3-2 OVC) emerged victorious in an 85-83 overtime clash at Western Illinois. The game featured 10 ties and a dozen lead changes as UT Martin was once again keyed by Tarence Guinyard. The speedy combo guard topped the Skyhawks in scoring for the seventh time in the last eight games, going off for a career-high 31 points for the third time since Dec. 11. Just 16 games into his blossoming UT Martin career, Guinyard's trio of 30-point outings rank as the ninth-most in the school's NCAA Division I Era (since 1992).
Vladimer Salaridze earned his fourth double-double in the last seven games with a career-best 17 points, 10 rebounds, four steals and three assists while Matija Žužić pitched in 16 points off the bench for the Skyhawks at Western Illinois.
UT Martin leads the OVC in scoring margin (+6.8) in league play as the Skyhawks have remarkably only trailed for 18:18 out of a possible 210 minutes against conference opponents.
The Lions (7-9, 2-3 OVC) are coming off an impressive home win on Thursday, overcoming a 34-29 halftime deficit to knock off Tennessee State by a 72-62 margin. Anias Futrell led the way with game-highs of 24 points, 10 rebounds and three steals while Nathan Johnson, Jr. (11 points) and Markeith Browning II (10 points) also guided Lindenwood, who top the OVC with 9.63 steals per contest.
