MARTIN, Tenn. – A third game in six days awaits the University of Tennessee at Martin men's basketball squad as the Skyhawks visit the Jack Stephens Center for the first time in a dozen years to take on Little Rock tomorrow. Tipoff time is set for 7 p.m.
Last season's road matchup against the Trojans was played at Simmons Bank Arena in North Little Rock as extreme winter weather caused unplayable court conditions at the Jack Stephens Center.
UT Martin (14-9, 7-3 Ohio Valley Conference) has won each of its last two outings against Little Rock, including a 77-72 home victory earlier this season on Jan. 13. In that game, Jacob Crews poured in a career-best 35 points (the second-most by any OVC player in 2023-24) while Jordan Sears (14 points, six rebounds, five assists, four steals) and Issa Muhammad (12 points, game-high nine rebounds) also guided the Skyhawks.
During its current four-game winning streak, UT Martin has led for 147:02 (out of a possible 160 minutes) of clock time. The Skyhawks have held the opposition to 37.6 percent shooting - including a 27-for-102 effort (26.5 percent) from beyond the three-point arc during this stretch.
UT Martin's last outing was a 90-79 triumph at SIUE, the program's fourth OVC road win in five tries this season. Sears tied a career-high with 34 points (including a career-best 6-for-8 effort from three-point land) on his way to OVC Player of the Week accolades while Crews (23 points, 11 rebounds) and Muhammad (13 points, seven rebounds and a career-best five assists) also led the charge.
The Trojans (12-11, 6-4 OVC) are coming off an impressive road win of their own on Saturday, defeating Eastern Illinois by a 71-47 margin. Little Rock limited the Panthers to 28.8 percent (19-of-66) shooting with a 17.9 percent (5-for-28) success rate from downtown. Jamir Chaplin - who scored a team-high 22 points against UT Martin back on Jan. 13 - tied for the team lead with 14 points against Eastern Illinois.
