
UT MARTIN REMAINS AT NO. 8 IN LATEST NATIONAL COLLEGIATE EQUESTRIAN ASSOCIATION POLL

WACO, Texas – The top-10 rankings for the National Collegiate Equestrian Association did not change this week as the University of Tennessee at Martin carried over its No. 8 ranking.
TCU stayed at No. 1 and was followed by No. 2 Texas A&M, No. 3 SMU, No. 4 South Carolina, No. 5 Georgia, No. 6 Auburn, No. 7 Oklahoma State, the No. 8 Skyhawks, No. 9 UC Davis and No. 10 Delaware State.
UT Martin is coming off a weekend where it battled but fell 14-6 on the road at No. 6 Auburn. The Skyhawks won two head-to-head decisions in horsemanship and flat while claiming one victory in both fences and reining events.
Lexi Bailey was responsible for two of UT Martin's six points, producing a 75.5-point ride in horsemanship and 72-point effort in reining (both team-high scores). Emma Schaefer (75.5 points in horsemanship), Kate Mills (83 points in fences), Sophia Sundem (80 points in flat) and Bridget Vieau (79 points in flat) also came away with wins against the Tigers.
As a team, the Skyhawks produced an average score of 80.4 in fences, 78.4 in flat, 74.5 in horsemanship and 68.9 in reining at Auburn.
On the season, Sydney Hott paces UT Martin in fences victories (six) while Sundem's six wins are a team-best in flat to round out the Jumping Seat discipline. Bailey has dominated in the Skyhawks' Western discipline throughout the 2023-24 campaign, dialing up a team-high six victories in horsemanship while tying Schaefer for the team lead with seven triumphs in reining.
UT Martin is off until Friday, March 1 when it welcomes Minnesota-Crookston to the Ned McWherter Agricultural Complex for the home and regular season finale.
