MARTIN, Tenn. – The Ohio Valley Conference volleyball regular season comes to an end this week as the University of Tennessee at Martin hosts Tennessee Tech for a two-match set on Tuesday, Nov. 19 and Wednesday, Nov. 20. First serve on Tuesday is set for 6 p.m. while Wednesday's match will start at 4 p.m. Both matches will be streamed live on ESPN+.
Due to a scheduling quirk, these two teams will be facing each other for the first time since Nov. 12, 2022 as they did not face each other last fall. The Skyhawks have won five of the last seven decisions against the Golden Eagles, including three out of their last four home matches during that span. UT Martin's only two losses to Tennessee Tech since the 2017 campaign have come in five-set affairs. Dylan Mott has enjoyed success in her career against Tennessee Tech, combining for 75 digs over four matches (4.41 per set).
Last weekend at SIUE, the Skyhawks (5-20, 3-13 OVC) were led offensively by Kylie Surratt's 24 kills (3.43 per set) and Kristin Phillips' .436 hitting percentage (2.71 kills per set with just two errors in 39 attempts). Kayla Bryant equaled Phillips with 19 kills on the weekend while Katie Cruise added 60 assists (8.57 per set), seven kills and 20 digs (2.87 per set, second-most on the team). Mott (3.57 digs per set) and Josie Hess (2.71 digs per set) split libero duties, combining for 44 digs in the two-match series.
In OVC individual rankings, Mott ranks second in the league with 5.09 digs per set while Surratt's 3.27 kills per set in league play ranks sixth. Overall, Surratt ranks ninth in points (3.38 per match) while Cruise (6.78 assists per set, sixth) and Bryant (0.31 service aces per set, eighth) also find themselves in the top-10 in their respective categories.
The Golden Eagles (21-7, 10-6 OVC) enter the weekend atop the OVC in kills (14.28 per set), hitting percentage (.221), assists (12.97 per set), service aces (1.76 per set) and opponent hitting percentage (.162). Tennessee Tech has been led by seven-time OVC Player of the Week Madolyn Isringhausen (first in the OVC with 4.92 kills, 0.45 service aces and 5.57 points per set) and seven-time OVC Setter of the Week Jordan Karlen (OVC-high 11.26 assists per set). Just last week, Isringhausen was crowned as American Volleyball Coaches Association/GameChanger Division I National Player of the Week on the way to becoming only the 11th player in school history to rack up 1,000 career kills and 1,000 career digs.
