
Skyhawk Soccer To Host Lindenwood On Sunday

MARTIN, Tenn.- Entering the homestretch of the regular season, the University of Tennessee at Martin soccer team is set to host conference unbeaten Lindenwood on Sunday, Oct. 13 at 2 p.m.

The Skyhawks (2-8-3, 1-4 Ohio Valley Conference) come into Sunday's match ranking second in the league in shots (176) and corner kicks taken (74). On defense, UT Martin is making 6.23 saves per match (second in the OVC) and snaring 81 saves (third in the OVC) this season.

Izzy Patterson continues to lead the team in points with eight (two goals, four assists) while Makayla Robinson has a team-high three goals and two game-winning scores. Peyton Cook is averaging 1.77 shots on goal per match (second in the OVC) and ranks second on the team in shots (37).

Senior goalkeeper Mac Titus has made 74 saves on the year, ranking second in the conference with 5.69 saves per match over 13 matches. Defenders Shayla Addington and Parker Gelinas have played every minute this season on the backline.

Lindenwood (7-4-2, 3-0-2 OVC) is enjoying a breakout season in the conference, ranking third in the standings thanks to a five-match unbeaten streak. Overall, the Lions hold the best goals-against-average in the conference (0.92) and have posted seven shutouts.

Mackenzie Compton leads the team in every major offensive statistical category. The freshman has scored four goals and dished out three assists for a total of 11 points while also taking a team-high 34 shots and 18 shots on goal. Goalkeeper Caroline Ritter has composed a 0.64 GAA (first in the OVC) with five shutouts (second in the OVC) and 30 saves against 75 shots.

Sunday will be just the third time the two schools have squared off with the series tied 1-1. Last season in St. Charles, Mo., Abbie McHenry (game-winner), Patterson and Cook each recorded goals while Robinson had an assist in a 3-0 Skyhawk victory.
