
UT MARTIN SOCCER TO HOST MURRAY STATE ON SUNDAY

MARTIN, Tenn.-Â The University of Tennessee at Martin soccer team will host Murray State this Sunday, Sept. 3 at 4 p.m. on ESPN+.
Sunday will mark the 27th all-time meeting between the Skyhawks and Murray State. The last time the two schools met was on Sept. 4, 2022 when the match ended in a 2-2 draw. UT Martin junior forward Makayla Robinson found the back of the net in that match while Bastock snared five saves.

The Skyhawks (2-2) are coming off a 4-0 setback to Kentucky on Thursday night. Poppy Bastock made four of her five saves in the first half of the contest. Offensively, Izzy Patterson fired a shot and Allie Buchmann put a shot on goal for UT Martin.
Robinson's two goals lead the way in 2023 for the Skyhawks, who have also seen Catey Hunt and Patterson score goals so far this fall. Patterson's seven shots are a team-high while Hunt, Nyeemah Prescod-Beckles and Caroline Moore have each distributed an assist. On the defensive side, Bastock has registered 19 saves while logging all 357:36 between the posts. Sophomore Shayla Addington has also played 350 minutes this season at defender for UT Martin.
The Racers (1-4) enter Sunday's contest coming off a heartbreaker against Lindenwood, falling 1-0. Mary Hardy leads Murray State in shots (eight), shots on goal (four), points (four) and goals (two). Goalkeeper Jenna Villacres paces the team in saves with 13 and holds one clean sheet on the year.
