
UT MARTIN SOCCER ENDS BRIEF HOMESTAND WITH WESTERN CAROLINA ON SUNDAY

MARTIN, Tenn.- The University of Tennessee at Martin soccer team will host Western Carolina this Sunday, Aug. 27 at 1 p.m. for the second home match of the season.

UT Martin (1-1-0) fell short of a win in the home opener against Appalachian State and will look to reset come Sunday afternoon. In the 2-0 setback, Poppy Bastock made all four of her saves in the first half. Rachel Okoro recorded a shot on goal and Catey Hunt also found herself in the shot category for the Skyhawks, who were tied at the intermission before conceding a pair of second-half goals over a seven-minute span.

The Catamounts (2-0-1) enter Sunday undefeated through their first three games of the season. They rank second in the Southern Conference in shot attempts (17.0 per game) while midfielder/forward Isabella DeMarco is tied for seventh in the country in goals scored with four. Goalkeeper Leanne Trudel is another impact performer this season as she won the Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Week award for posting two clean sheets against UNC Asheville and Queens, respectively.

Sunday will mark the sixth all-time meeting between UT Martin and Western Carolina and the third match to be played in Martin. The Skyhawks are 1-1 at Skyhawk Field against the Catamounts with each match featuring only a one goal differential.
