
UT MARTIN EQUESTRIAN RANKED FOR 12TH CONSECUTIVE NCEA POLL THIS SEASON, CHECKING IN AT NO. 10

WACO, Texas – There was lots of movement in the National Collegiate Equestrian Association poll today as seven of the 10 spots changed places from last week, including the University of Tennessee at Martin coming in at No. 10.
Only No. 1 SMU, No. 2 TCU and No. 8 Baylor remained the same in this week's rankings. Texas A&M climbed to No. 3 and was followed by No. 4 Auburn, No. 5 Georgia, No. 6 South Carolina and No. 7 Oklahoma State. Fresno State joined the poll for the first time since Oct. 11 at No. 9.
The Skyhawks (2-5) are the highest ranked Eastern College Athletic Conference squad on the list as UT Martin has been ranked in each of the 12 NCEA top-10 polls so far in the 2022-23 season.
Collectively, the Skyhawks have earned 68 head-to-head wins and 11 MOP's this season. In fences, UT Martin has posted 22 wins, three MOP's and a 79.1 scoring average while the Skyhawks account for 22 victories, three MOP's and a 78.9 scoring average in flat.
Julia Gilman's seven wins lead the way for UT Martin in fences while Sydney Hott paces the squad in scoring average (81.7) and MOP's (two). In flat, Hott tops the team with a pair of MOP's and shares the team lead in victories (five) alongside Haley Kane. Gilman's 83.3 scoring average is the best on the squad.
The Skyhawks' Western discipline has combined for 24 individual victories – led by reining's 16 wins, three MOP's and 64.8 scoring average. UT Martin additionally has collected eight triumphs, two MOP's and a 72.8 scoring average in horsemanship.
Kate Davis and Logan Putvinski are tied for the reining team lead with five victories apiece while Putvinski leads the way with a 70.4 scoring average. Three different Skyhawks (Aubrey Malone, Putvinski, Lexi Bailey) have captured MOP status in reining so far in 2022-23. In horsemanship, UT Martin has managed eight wins, two MOP's and a 72.8 scoring average. The Skyhawks have displayed balance in that event as there is a four-way tie for first-place in team victories (Bailey, Davis, Keely Seiter, Emma Schaefer) with two apiece. Bailey's 74.0 scoring average is the best mark on the squad while Bailey and Davis have both won MOP accolades.
UT Martin opens the month of February with a big matchup against No. 1 SMU on Saturday, Feb. 11. The Senior Day meet will begin at 10 a.m. inside the Ned McWherter Agricultural Pavilion.
