The University of Tennessee at Martin women's basketball team will take a break from league action with a non-conference matchup against Evansville on Monday, Feb. 6. Tipoff from Meeks Family Fieldhouse is slated for 6 p.m. on ESPN+.
Both teams are looking to makeup a previously postponed contest from back on December 22 which was altered by a winter storm.
The Skyhawks (9-13) continue a four-game road trip after a tough road loss at Lindenwood on Saturday by a final score of 84-75. Despite UT Martin forcing Lindenwood into 26 turnovers today, the Lions shot 61.7 percent and made 14 three-pointers to claim the comeback victory.
Sophomore Shae Littleford posted her second consecutive 20-point performance while setting a new career-high with 29 points. Reigning OVC Freshman of the Week Sharnecce Currie-Jelks reached double figures once again with 16 points and a team-high seven rebounds.
Evansville (10-10) has been alternating wins and losses for the 11 games while recently falling to Drake on Saturday by 39 points on the road. The squad is led by preseason all-conference honoree Abby Feit who paces the squad in most categories including points (15.8 ppg) and rebounds (8.0 rpg). Myla Clark is also a top performer for the Purple Aces with 11.9 points per game.
Monday's contest marks the 16th meeting between the two programs with UT Martin holding a narrow 8-7 advantage. The Skyhawks and Purple Aces have not met since 2015 but UT Martin is 6-0 against Evansville during the Kevin McMillan Era.
