
SKYHAWK MEN'S BASKETBALL RETURNS TO ELAM CENTER FOR FIRST TIME IN TWO WEEKS TO HOST OVC NEWCOMER LITTLE ROCK TOMORROW

MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin men's basketball team looks to get back in the win column when it clashes against first-year Ohio Valley Conference member Little Rock for the final Saturday home contest of the 2022-23 campaign. Tipoff on Feb. 11 is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. (following the conclusion of the women's game) as it also serves as a Basketball and Cheer Reunion outing for alumni.
The Skyhawks are 12-1 this season inside the Kathleen and Tom Elam Center, which is tied with the 2008-09 OVC regular season champion UT Martin squad for the second-most home victories in the school's NCAA Division I Era (since 1992).
This meeting marks the first time in almost three decades that the Skyhawks have hosted the Trojans (last playing in Martin on Feb. 20, 1993). UT Martin will look for payback as Little Rock came away with an 88-74 win in both team's OVC opener on Dec. 29. In that game, KJ Simon accounted for a season-best 24 points while Parker Stewart (13), Desmond Williams (13), Jordan Sears (12) and KK Curry (11) also scored in double figures.
The Skyhawks (15-11, 7-6 OVC) are coming off a tough three-game road swing, capped off by a slim 77-75 setback at Eastern Illinois on Thursday. UT Martin trailed by as many as 16 points but kept chipping away down the stretch, eventually getting a look at a contested game-winning three-point attempt right before the final buzzer. Sears (game-high 20 points), Stewart (18), Simon (12) and Jalen Myers (first career double-double of 10 points and a career-best 11 rebounds) navigated the Skyhawks.
The Trojans (8-18, 4-9 OVC) knocked off OVC-leading Morehead State on Thursday, placing all five starters in double figures in the scoring column during an impressive 72-68 win. Myron Gardner earned his OVC-best 14th double-double (14 points, 14 rebounds) while CJ White compiled a team-high 15 points.
Gardner (23 points, 10 rebounds) and DeAntoni Gordon (16 points, 12 rebounds) each hauled in double-doubles while Jordan Jefferson (19 points) additionally stood out during Little Rock's win over UT Martin earlier this season.
