SKYHAWK SOCCER SET FOR CONFERENCE BOUT WITH EASTERN ILLINOIS

MARTIN, Tenn- Fresh off its first Ohio Valley Conference win of the season, the University of Tennessee at Martin soccer team returns home on Sunday, Oct. 8 at 1 p.m. to host Eastern Illinois.

UT Martin (4-6-3, 1-1-2) defeated Lindenwood 3-0 on Thursday for the squad's first shutout of the season. Abbie McHenry, Izzy Patterson and Peyton Cook led the Skyhawks with a goal apiece while Poppy Bastock recorded two saves on eight Lions' shots.

The duo of Cook and Patterson rank in the OVC's top 10 in total shots with Cook taking 21 attempts and Patterson firing off 20. Additionally, Cook's 10 shots on goal place her in a tie for fourth in the conference in that category.

Goalkeeper Poppy Bastock sits fourth in the OVC in saves per match (4.58), while making a total of 55 saves in her 1,047 minutes on the pitch. Defensively, freshmen Joelle Stinson and Gwen Walters have played solid, combining for over 2,000 minutes played in their first year as Skyhawks.

Eastern Illinois (2-6-3, 1-2-1) comes into Sunday's contest following a 3-1 loss to Tennessee Tech. The Panthers are led in points by freshman Abby Reinl who has scored three goals and notched three assists. Goalkeeper Ella Kratochvil leads the team in saves with 32 and has recorded one shutout on the year.
