
UT MARTIN WOMEN’S HOOPS TO HOST SOUTHERN INDIANA ON SATURDAY AFTERNOON

The University of Tennessee at Martin women's basketball team returns to action for the first time in a week when playing host to new Ohio Valley Conference foe Southern Indiana on Saturday, Jan. 28. Tipoff from the Kathleen and Tom Elam Center is slated for 1 p.m. on ESPN+.
The Skyhawks (7-12, 4-5 OVC) hit the court for the first time since last Saturday after Thursday's scheduled contest against Lindenwood was cancelled due to player availability for the Lions. Per Conference policy, for purposes of the league standings and tiebreakers, the games will count as a forfeit while UT Martin is credited with a victory in the league standings.
UT Martin's most recent contest saw the squad fall victim to a hot-shooting Eastern Illinois squad which maintained its perfect record in OVC play with a 78-63 road victory. The Skyhawks placed three players in double figures with graduate guard Seygan Robins scoring a season-high 17 points while Shae Littleford and Josie Storey added 10 points each.
In the previous matchup against Southern Indiana, UT Martin battled back from a 12-point deficit in the fourth quarter to squeak out a 63-60 road victory. Storey played a big role in the comeback win as she scored a career-high 20 points – including 17 in the fourth quarter. Additionally, Littleford also had a big night with by equaling her career-high with 21 points on 7-of-14 shooting.
Southern Indiana (9-11, 3-6 OVC) took OVC leading Eastern Illinois to the brink on Thursday night before ultimately falling in overtime by a final score of 67-62. The Screaming Eagles boast a loaded lineup which features three of the league's top five scorers. Hannah Haithcock leads the team and ranks second in the OVC with 15.1 points per game while both Vanessa Shafford (13.7 ppg) and Meredith Raley (13.1 ppg) amongst league leaders.
Saturday's matchup marks Southern Indiana's first visit to the Elam Center. UT Martin leads the all-time series 1-0, picking up a road victory two weeks ago.
