
UT MARTIN SOCCER TO HOST OVC HOME OPENER AGAINST MOREHEAD STATE ON SUNDAY

MARTIN, Tenn. – The reigning Ohio Valley Conference regular season champions will play its OVC home opener on Sunday, Sept. 25 as the University of Tennessee at Martin hosts Morehead State. Action from Skyhawk Field is slated to begin at 1 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+.
The Skyhawks (2-5-2, 0-1 OVC) opened league play on Thursday afternoon with a road matchup at new OVC member Little Rock. The game featured an early goal for both teams – including Brooke Kala's first tally of the season in the 14th minute – before the Trojans scored on a set piece in the 86th minute to steal away the victory.
UT Martin has scored nine goals on the season with senior Megan Drake pacing the team and ranking second in the OVC with four goals while Makayla Robinson ranks second on the squad with a pair. Five Skyhawks have tallied assists on the year while freshman Alba Delgado leads the team with two.
Freshman Poppy Bastock has started all nine games for the Skyhawks in goal this season while tallying 47 saves and two personal shutouts. She ranks second in the league with 5.22 saves per game.
Morehead State (4-4-1, 1-0 OVC) picked up a win in its league opener last Sunday with a 1-0 victory over Southern Indiana at home. The Eagles are paced offensively by Hadley Cytron with seven points (two goals, three assists) on the season while Nicole Fiantaco ranks second with five points (two goals, one assist). In goal, Michelle Jerantowski has picked three of the team's wins while tallying two shutouts and 1.73 goals against average.
Sunday's contest marks the 30th meeting between the two programs with UT Martin boasting a 16-11-2 series advantage. The Skyhawks have won three of the last four meetings against the Eagles, including a 1-0 victory last October to clinch a piece of the OVC regular season title.
