SKYHAWKS SECURE NO. 9 POSITION IN NEWEST NATIONAL COLLEGIATE EQUESTRIAN ASSOCIATION RANKINGS

WACO, Texas – There was no change in the National Collegiate Equestrian Association rankings released today as the University of Tennessee at Martin remained in the ninth slot.
This marks the fourth week that the Skyhawks have appeared in the top-10 poll this season, also earning a national rank on Sept. 14, Nov. 23 and Feb. 1.
Oklahoma State retained its No. 1 spot while No. 2 Texas A&M, No. 3 Auburn, No. 4 Baylor and No. 5 Georgia rounded out the top-five. SMU came in at No. 6 and was followed by No. 7 Fresno State, No. 8 TCU, No. 9 UT Martin and No. 10 Delaware State.
The Skyhawks, who were off last week, own a 4-5 record this season against a schedule that has featured six ranked opponents. UT Martin boasts wins against then-No. 3 SMU on Oct. 2 and then-No. 7 Delaware State on Jan. 28 while also collecting victories over ECAC rivals South Dakota State (Oct. 15) and Lynchburg (Nov. 13).
Individually, the Skyhawks have collected 22 wins in fences, 20 victories in flat, 12 wins in reining and 10 victories in horsemanship. UT Martin has racked up five MOP accolades each in fences and flat while generating six total MOP's in the Western discipline (four in reining, two in horsemanship).
The Skyhawks are preparing for a big home weekend. UT Martin hosts ECAC foe UC Davis at 9 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 11 before hosting the No. 1 ranked Oklahoma State Cowgirls at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 12.
