
UT MARTIN SOCCER TO CAP OFF REGULAR SEASON AGAINST SOUTHEAST MISSOURI ON SUNDAY

The University of Tennessee at Martin soccer program will conclude the regular season on Sunday, Oct. 23 when playing host to Ohio Valley Conference rival Southeast Missouri. Action is schedule to get underway at 1 p.m. on ESPN+.
The Skyhawks (3-8-4, 1-4-2 OVC) enter the final game of the regular season having already punched a ticket into next week's OVC Soccer Championship. UT Martin currently ranks seventh in the OVC with five conference points.
UT Martin dropped its last contest by a final score of 4-1 at SIUE on Thursday night. The Cougars scored three early goals before Sophia Mankowski put the Skyhawks on the board with her second goal of the season.
Megan Drake leads the team offensively with nine points – including four goals and an assist this season. Four other Skyhawks have tallied multiple goals on the season with Makayla Robinson, Izzy Patterson, Catey Hunt and Mankowski joining that list. Meanwhile in goal, Poppy Bastock has tallied three shutouts in her debut season.
Southeast Missouri (7-6-2, 3-2-2 OVC) sits in fourth place in the league standings with 11 conference points. The Redhawks notched a thrilling last-minute victory on Thursday night as Cayla Koerner scored the 1-0 game-winning with 14 seconds left in the contest. Koerner ranks as the team's top offensive performer with four goals on the season while goalkeeper Sophia Elfrink has recorded four shutouts.
Sunday's meeting marks the 28th matchup between the two programs in a highly contested series as Southeast Missouri narrowly leads UT Martin at 11-10-6 all-time. The Skyhawks have not lost to the Redhawks since 2016 however, going 4-0-1 in the last five meetings.
