SKYHAWK TRACK AND FIELD POSTS NICE SHOWING AT JOEY HAINES INVITATIONAL

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – The University of Tennessee track and field squads returned to action this afternoon by competing at the Joey Haines Track and Field Invitational in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Competing in their second outdoor meet of the young season, the Skyhawks featured 17 scoring performances.
Beginning the day's highlights was the performance of Darius Holland in the long jump. After setting a new school record last week, he tallied 7.11m this afternoon to finish third overall.
In the men's 110m hurdles, Jamire Thompson also posted a third-place finish with a time of 15.44 seconds.
Addison Taylor posted a new PR in the women's 100m hurdles with a time of 16.03 seconds.
The men's 4x100m relay team of Marquerious Hayes, Colby Martin, Darius Holland and Corey Smith also posted a strong showing by finishing fourth with a time of 42.74.
On the distance side, senior Ryan Ford finished second in the 1500m with a time of 3:49.94 while Oisin O'Gailin earned a third-place finish at 3:53.04. Meanwhile Luke McNair (3:53.96, fifth) and Daniel Smith (3:57.19, seventh) also finished in scoring positions for the Skyhawks in the event.
Later in the men's 800m Ford came back to post another runner-up finish in the 800m with a time of 1:56.68. Daniel Smith also returned to finish fourth overall with a time of 1:57.6.
UT Martin will return to action in two weeks when traveling to the Vanderbilt Black and Gold Invite on Friday, April 16-17.
