DANBURY, Conn. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference has unveiled its Equestrian Riders of the Month for February and has tabbed University of Tennessee at Martin standout Hannah McDonald as its recipient in reining.
A senior who hails from Ridgefield, Wash., McDonald joins UC Davis' Keely Laughlin (Fences), UC Davis' Carly Sweeney (Flat) and SMU's Nya Kearns (Horsemanship) as the ECAC's February honorees.
McDonald is currently on a tear this season, as she boasted a perfect 4-0 mark in reining over the final week of January and into February. Her average of 71.1 during that stretch included a season-best score of 76 points against Minnesota-Crookston on Feb. 12, garnering MOP accolades in the process.
Also appearing on McDonald's 2020-21 season resume are victories at No. 8 TCU on Jan. 28 (67.5 points), against South Dakota State on Jan. 30 (69.5) and at No. 5 SMU on Jan. 30 (71.5). She has since added yet another victory, winning by a 73.5-72.5 margin at Delaware State on Saturday.
This award marks the third time in McDonald's storied career that she has been recognized on a conference or national level. She also chalked up NCEA Reining Rider of the Month accolades in February 2020 and was a United Equestrian Conference Reining Rider of the Week on Feb. 11, 2019.
McDonald and the Skyhawks are back in action this Friday, March 12 when they host Delaware State at the Ned McWherter Agricultural Pavilion at 10 a.m.
