The red-hot University of Tennessee at Martin women's basketball team will look to even up the season series against Ohio Valley Conference foe Jacksonville State on Thursday, Feb. 3. Tipoff from the Kathleen and Tom Elam Center is scheduled to get underway at 5 p.m. on ESPN+.
The Skyhawks (11-3, 10-1 OVC) sits in first place in the league standings with the team's lone blemish to its conference slate coming on the road at Jacksonville State (72-67) back on Dec. 30th. Along with sitting atop the league standings, UT Martin ranks first in scoring offense (71.3 ppg), field goal percentage (46.3), three-point field goal percentage (36.9), assists (17.3 per game) and assists/turnover ratio (1.2).

The Skyhawks eagerly await the return of senior forward Chelsey Perry who ranks fourth nationally with 25.7 points per game after missing the first game of her career due to injury against Southeast Missouri. In her stead, sophomore Dasia Young (9.9 ppg, 5.2 rpg) posted a breakout performance against the Redhawks with a career-high 25 points and six rebounds while Kyannah Grant tallied 15 points and nine assists as four players scored in double figures for UT Martin.
Jacksonville State (8-4, 5-3 OVC) returns to play following a 10-day hiatus following COVID postponements. The Gamecocks rank as one of the league's top defensive units, sitting amongst the statistical leaders in three-point field goal defense (24.1 percent, first), scoring defense (58.8 ppg, second), field goal percentage defense (35.7, second) and defensive rebounding percentage (71.8, second).
The Gamecocks boast two players in double figures offensively, led by Yamia Johnson who paces the team with 16.6 points and 6.0 rebounds per game. Taylor Hawks also eclipses double-digits with 10.0 points and 3.4 assists per game.
