MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin men's basketball team will look to split the season series against the Murray State Racers when the longtime Ohio Valley Conference rivals square off at the CFSB Center on Saturday, Feb. 13. The game will begin at 7:30 p.m. (following the women's contest).
It's been exactly four weeks since the Skyhawks and Murray State matched up in the Kathleen and Tom Elam Center as the Racers came away with a 79-57 win back on Jan. 16. In that game, UT Martin forward Cameron Holden went off for game-highs of 20 points, 16 rebounds and three steals - tying for the most offensive rebounds (11) by any player against a NCAA Division I opponent in 2020-21.
Holden led the Skyhawks in scoring for the 10th time this season last time out at Austin Peay, as he registered 14 points to go along with a team-best nine rebounds in a 71-50 setback on Thursday.
UT Martin (7-12, 5-10 OVC) has gotten back into the OVC Tournament picture after tallying four victories since Jan. 26. With five regular season contests remaining, the Skyhawks are just a half-game out of the projected tournament field.
First-year interim head coach Montez Robinson boasts a variety of options on the offensive end as four different players have led UT Martin in scoring over the last five games (Holden, Ajani Kennedy, Jaron Williams, Anthony Thomas).
Murray State (10-9, 7-7 OVC) will play the second game of a back-to-back schedule as its tilt against Southeast Missouri was pushed back to Friday because of inclement weather. The Racers won that meeting by an 80-60 margin behind a team-high 22 points out of Chico Carter, Jr. KJ Williams (17 points) and Tevin Brown (15 points, nine assists, seven rebounds) also enjoyed big nights for Murray State, who lead the OVC in three-point field goal percentage defense (.299).
Carter has given the Racers a lift recently as the sophomore leads the OVC with a .522 three-point field goal percentage.
This game will be streamed live on ESPN+. Chris Brinkley will call all the action locally on WCMT Radio 1410 AM/100.5 FM. Those two links - in addition to a link to follow along with live stats - are located above.
