UT MARTIN GOLF PROGRAM READY TO HOST 17TH ANNUAL GROVER PAGE CLASSIC IN JACKSON

MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin golf program will proudly put on the 17th installment of the Grover Page Classic at the Jackson Country Club in Jackson, Tenn. on March 9-10.
The 2020 version of the Grover Page Classic includes approximately 58 participants from 10 different colleges and universities. Alabama A&M, Alabama State, Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Bradley, Green Bay, Indian Hills Community College, John A. Logan College, Tennessee State and UT Martin make up the field while Southern Illinois also accounts for three individuals.
The event begins on Sunday, March 8 with a practice round before the 54-hole stroke play tournament takes place over the following two days. The first two rounds (18 holes in the morning, 18 holes in the afternoon) will occur on Monday, March 9 with the third round featuring the final 18 holes following on Tuesday, March 10. Both days will begin with an 8:45 a.m. shotgun start.
The Skyhawks will look to avoid unfavorable weather conditions as Monday's forecast calls for an 80 percent chance of rain with a high of 61 degrees and winds blowing 14 miles per hour out of the south. Tuesday calls for a 70 percent chance of showers with a high of 68 degrees and winds coming out of the west at nine miles per hour.
Built in 1929, the Jackson Country Club is a par-72 course that plays at 6,776 yards. UT Martin has claimed five Grover Page Classic tournament championships since 2009 and have finished as runner-up in back-to-back seasons. Last season, Ross Redmont finished second in the field with a 216 (E) as Nick Wolf (223), Jack Story (226), Mason Chandler (226) and Tate Chumley (226) each finished in the top-16 of the individual standings.
This tournament marks the ninth of UT Martin's 11 regular season events in 2019-20 as the Skyhawks boast four team victories and seven top-five finishes so far. Individually, Story (70.7, third), Redmont (71.6, ninth) and Wolf (72.0, 10th) all rank in the top-10 in the OVC in stroke average.
