
SKYHAWK TENNIS OPENS SWING THROUGH YELLOWHAMMER STATE WITH 4-0 SETBACK AT ALABAMA

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The University of Tennessee at Martin's grueling tennis schedule continued today as the Skyhawks fell by a 4-0 margin at Southeastern Conference power Alabama.
UT Martin (1-3) fell in doubles as Aziza Aubin and Mizuki Sakurai were defeated 6-1 at No. 2 while the team of Jule Streif and Sina Albersmeier fell by a 6-0 margin at No. 3. The Skyhawk duo of Amelia Campbell and Daphne Pratt were in the midst of a battle at No. 1 (3-2) but the match went unfinished.
In singles, Aubin represented UT Martin in the No. 3 slot but was defeated 6-3, 6-2. Jillian Niedzialowski came up short at No. 6 with a 6-0, 6-3 setback while Streif dropped a 6-1, 6-0 decision at No. 2.
Albersmeier (4-6, 1-2 at No. 5), Pratt (1-6, 2-3 at No. 1) and Sakurai (0-6, 3-4 at No. 4) were additionally part of the Skyhawks' singles lineup but their matches were not completed as Alabama improved to 8-1 on the season.
UT Martin faces a quick turnaround as it plays its second match in as many days in the state of Alabama. The Skyhawks will go for their first win of the young 2020 season when they travel to Huntsville to square off against Alabama A&M on Sunday, Feb. 9.
