
SKYHAWK TRACK AND FIELD WRAPS UP INDOOR SEASON AT OVC CHAMPIONSHIPS

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The University of Tennessee at Martin track and field squads wrapped up the indoor portion of its 2020 scheduled by competing at the Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Championships this week held at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
Sophomore Brady Fry earned the team's lone podium finish of the Championship in the men's 60m hurdles. Fry posted a time of time of 8.33 seconds to finish second overall.
Friday afternoon was highlighted by senior Ryan Ford in the men's 5k. After sitting with the leading pack for much of the race, Ford pushed for medalist honors before ultimately dropping to fifth place with a time of 14:53.38.
The Skyhawks added to the men's point total in the DMR as the group of Daniel Smith, Corey Smith, Jhon-Wes Walker and Luke McNair recorded a time of 10:23.98.

In the men's mile, junior Oisin O'Gailin scored with a sixth place finish at 4:19.15. Junior Tim Dye (4.24.25) and freshman Cole Davis (4:24.46) crossed back-to-back to tally respective PRs.
In the men's 3k, Ford scored points in his second event with a seventh place finish with a time of 8:27.11. Meanwhile, junior Alex Schell won his heat with a time of 8:36.43 seconds to finish just out of scoring position.
Capping off the championship was the men's and women's 4x400m relays. The men's team scored two points as the group of Corey Smith, Martin, Andre Brown and Walker posted a time of 3:25.15. On the women's side, the group of Anndrea Chester, Jasmyn Pilcher, Myann Davidson and Agok Ayuen finished at 4:00.75.
UT Martin opens the outdoor portion of the schedule on Friday, March 13 at the Margaret Simmons Invite.
