
UT MARTIN WOMEN’S BASKETBALL TO CAP OFF ROAD SLATE AT JACKSONVILLE STATE

The University of Tennessee at Martin women's basketball team will put the cap on the final road swing of the regular season with a matchup at Ohio Valley Conference foe Jacksonville State on Saturday, Feb. 22. Tipoff from Pete Mathews Coliseum is scheduled for 1:45 p.m. and will be streamed exclusively on ESPN+.
The Skyhawks (17-9, 13-2 OVC) enter the final three-game sprint towards the OVC Basketball Championship sitting tied for first in the league standings. UT Martin has won seven of its last eight contests – including an 86-72 victory over Jacksonville State back on Feb. 8.
UT Martin posted an impressive road victory at Tennessee Tech on Thursday night by a score of 86-65. The Skyhawks used a 20-0 run to finish the first half and never looked back. UT Martin shot 55.8 percent from the floor while placing four players in double figures. Chelsey Perry scored a game-high 22 points in limited action while Maddie Waldrop tallied her 10th career double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Joining the duo in double figures was the sophomore pair of Kyannah Grant (17 points) and Brittni Moore (12 points).
Perry highlights the team offensively by ranking second nationally in total points scored with 598. With just two more points, Perry will become just the fourth individual in program history to eclipse 600 points in a single season – joining the trio of Heather Butler, Ashia Jones and Jasmine Newsome.
Jacksonville State (12-14, 8-7 OVC) has won two of its last three games, including a dominating 72-51 victory over Southeast Missouri on Thursday evening. The Gamecocks knocked down 12 three-pointers in the contest while placing three players in double figures. JSU is led offensively by the play of Destiney Elliott (12.4 ppg) and Taylor Hawks (11.9 ppg).
Saturday's contest marks the 38th meeting between the two programs in series history with UT Martin holding a 20-17 advantage. The Skyhawks have controlled the series with 12 straight wins against the Gamecocks, including an 86-72 win two weeks ago.
