
UT MARTIN OPENS FINAL ROAD SWING WITH MATCHUP AT TENNESSEE TECH ON THURSDAY

The University of Tennessee at Martin women's basketball team will open its final road swing of the season with a matchup at Ohio Valley Conference foe Tennessee Tech on Thursday, Feb. 20. Tipoff from the Eblen Center is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on ESPN+.
The Skyhawks (16-9, 12-2 OVC) head down the final four-game stretch of the season in a three-way tie for first place in the OVC standings with fellow leaders Belmont and Southeast Missouri. UT Martin recently picked up its sixth win in its last seven contests after cruising past Eastern Illinois 88-64 last weekend.
UT Martin leads the OVC in scoring offense (78.1 ppg), scoring margin (+16.2), free throw percentage (76.4 percent), field goal percentage (46.7 percent), assists (16.9), rebounding defense (33.1) and assist/turnover ratio (1.1).
The junior duo of Chelsey Perry and Maddie Waldrop lead the way for the Skyhawks. Perry (26.4 ppg) and Waldrop (15.2 ppg) have combined to score 41.6 (53.2 percent) of the team's 78.1 points against conference opponents. A semifinalist for the Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year award, Perry ranks amongst the nation's top players after sitting first in points (576) and field goals made (222) while ranking third in points per game (23.0) and ninth in blocks (72).
Tennessee Tech (17-8, 10-4 OVC) recently snapped a three-game losing streak with an 81-69 victory against Tennessee State last Saturday. The Golden Eagles boast three scores in double figures led by Kesha Brady with 15.3 points per game while Mackenzie Coleman (11.1 ppg) and Jordan Brock (10.7 ppg) are close behind.
Thursday's contest marks the 73rd meeting between the two programs in a series which dates back to 1969. UT Martin has won 11 of the last 13 meetings since 2011, including a 71-62 victory against Tennessee Tech back on Feb. 6. In the contest, Perry tallied 37 points and eight rebounds while Waldrop notched a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds. The Golden Eagle trio of Brady (17), Coleman (12) and Brock (12) led the way for the guests.
