MARTIN, Tenn. – Four players scored in double figures for the University of Tennessee at Martin women's basketball team as the Skyhawks cruised past Ohio Valley Conference foe Eastern Illinois 88-64 on Saturday afternoon.
The Skyhawks (16-9, 12-2 OVC) evened the season series against the visiting Panthers while retaining a share of first place in the league standings behind a strong effort on both ends of the floor. UT Martin shot 55.2 percent from the floor while limiting Eastern Illinois to 15 points or fewer in three of the four quarters.
UT Martin saw seven players score at least six points while four eclipsed double figures. Chelsey Perry scored a game-high 22 points while narrowly missing out on a double-double with nine rebounds. Kyannah Grant posted a new career-high with 18 points while knocking down four three-pointers to rank second on the squad. Rounding out the Skyhawks in double figures was the duo of Maddie
Waldrop and Brittni Moore with 14 points each.
"We talked before the game that we needed balance in our scoring and we did that," UT Martin head coach Kevin McMillan said. "When we are able to do that, we are pretty tough to beat. We played really well in the first, second and fourth quarters. What I really liked was that we sat down in the half-court man-to-man and just guarded. We have to get really good at playing half-court man-to-man if we are going to win a championship and today we put together some really strong defense in stretches."

UT Martin will hit the road for two contests next week beginning with a matchup at Tennessee Tech on Thursday, Feb. 20.
