
UT MARTIN WOMEN’S HOOPS HEADS TO SHOW ME STATE FOR MATCHUP WITH SOUTHEAST MISSOURI

The University of Tennessee at Martin women's basketball team will hit the road to square off against one of the hottest teams in the Ohio Valley Conference with a matchup at Southeast Missouri on Thursday, Feb. 13. Tipoff from the Show Me Center is scheduled for 5:15 p.m.
The Skyhawks (15-8, 11-1 OVC) sits atop the OVC standings with a one-game lead over both Southeast Missouri and Belmont with six games to play. UT Martin and Southeast Missouri have combined to win 14 straight contests, including respective sweeps over Tennessee Tech and Jacksonville State last weekend.
UT Martin leads the league in scoring offense (78.0 ppg), scoring margin (+17.1), field goal percentage (46.6 percent), rebounding defense (33.0) and assists (16.8 apg). Junior forward Chelsey Perry secured her own piece of history by tallying her seventh OVC Player of the Week honor, tying the OVC single-season record with former Skyhawk great Jasmine Newsome (2012-13). Perry currently leads the country in field goals made (200) and total points (518) while ranking third nationally with 22.5 points per game.
Southeast Missouri (18-5, 10-2 OVC) enters Thursday's contest riding a nine-game winning streak. During that span, the Redhawks has posted an average margin of victory of 18.6 points per game. The Redhawks are led by a pair of potent scorers in Tesia Thompson (17.7 ppg, 7.9 rpg) and Carrie Shephard (17.0 ppg, 3.6 apg).
Thursday's contest serves as the 70th meeting between the two programs with UT Martin holding a 39-30 series advantage. The Skyhawks have won six straight matchups while posting a 19-1 mark against the Redhawks under the direction of head coach Kevin McMillan.
