
SKYHAWK EQUESTRIAN RETAINS NO. 10 NATIONAL RANKING IN NEW NCEA FARNAM TEAM POLL

MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin remained in the 10th slot in the latest National Collegiate Equestrian Association Farnam team rankings, which were unveiled this afternoon.
The only movement from last week involved the middle six squads, as Auburn remained No. 1 and Oklahoma State stayed at No. 2. South Carolina is the new No. 3 squad and is followed by No. 4 Fresno State, No. 5 Georgia, No. 6 TCU, No. 7 SMU, No. 8 Texas A&M, No. 9 Baylor and No. 10 UT Martin.
The Skyhawks are coming off a tough road trip to California, as they fell 14-4 to current No. 4 Fresno State and 9-7 to UC Davis. UT Martin nabbed three combined MOP accolades over the weekend as Kelby Kane claimed that title in the flat event in both competitions while Tess Baumann earned the honor in reining against UC Davis.
Grace Rogers and Kane each earned victories in fences as Rogers also boasted a team-high 80.0 scoring average. Kane's 80.5 scoring average and two wins led the Skyhawks in flat while Abbie Hopkins and Quinn Reed also contributed victories.
In the Western discipline, Bailey Newlin's 72.5 scoring average in horsemanship ranked as a team-high as she and Devon Woods each compiled one win. Hannah McDonald went undefeated (2-0) in reining, collecting a team-best 69.8 scoring average to go along with Baumann's aforementioned MOP win.
UT Martin has now been ranked in 11 out of 12 possible weeks during the 2019-20 season, including nine straight polls. The Skyhawks wrap up the home portion of their season next week when they host No. 7 SMU on Thursday, Feb. 20 before taking on SUNY New Paltz on Friday, Feb. 21.
