The University of Tennessee at Martin women's basketball team will look to end its three-game road swing on a high note with an Ohio Valley Conference matchup at Austin Peay on Saturday, Jan. 4. Tipoff from the Dunn Center is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. and will be broadcast exclusively on ESPN+.
The Skyhawks (5-7, 1-0 OVC) opened up conference play with a strong road performance at Murray State on Thursday, cruising to an 89-64 victory. UT Martin posted season highs in points (89) and rebounds (49) while notching its first road victory of the season. Four different players scored in double figures for the first time this campaign as junior forward Chelsey Perry paced the team with her sixth career double-double, tallying 20 points and 10 rebounds. Joining Perry in double figures was the forward trio of Damiah Griffin (15 points), Maddie Waldrop (15 points) and Dasia Young (14 points).

The junior enters the contest with 992 career points, needing just eight points to become the 16th member of the program's 1,000-point club.
Austin Peay (9-3, 0-1 OVC) snapped its four-game winning streak with a 79-66 home loss to Southeast Missouri in the team's OVC opener on Thursday night. The Governor pair of Ella Sawyer (16 points) and Arielle Gonzalez-Varner (15 points, nine rebounds) led the way for the home squad in the loss. Gonzalez-Varner is a Preseason All-OVC honoree and ranks as the team's top offensive player with 11.8 points and 8.7 rebounds per game.
Saturday's contest marks the 90th meeting between the two programs with Austin Peay holding a slim 46-43 advantage. UT Martin has controlled the series as of late, winning 14 of the last 17 contests, including three consecutive meetings.
