
UT MARTIN TRACK AND FIELD MAKES WAVES AT DON DENOON INVITE

CARBONDALE, Ill. – The University of Tennessee at Martin track and field squads posted strong performances at the Don DeNoon Invite hosted by Southern Illinois on Saturday with event titles and personal bests.
The Skyhawks competed in their first indoor meet of the season and garnered strong results. UT Martin would win three event titles on the day in mile, 800 and 3k against regional and conference foes.
Highlighting some of the top performances was senior David Little who finished fourth in the men's long jump with a distance of 6.62m in the finals while also posting a time of 7.1 seconds in the 60m dash.
The women's sprinting group of Anndrea Chester, Myann Davidson and Addison Taylor also posted nice afternoons. Chester made the finals of the 60m hurdles and posted a time of 9.29 seconds for a PR. Davidson posted a PR of 8.06 seconds in the 60m dash while posting another PR with a mark of 27.09 in the 200m dash. Taylor recorded a PR of her own with a 9.75 second time in the 60m hurdles and a 1:06.4 performance in the 400m dash.
The Skyhawks were strong in both 800m events. Senior Agok Ayuen won the women's event with a time of 2:21.31 Agok winning the 800. Then on the men's side, Luke McNair won his heat with a time of 2:00.34.
In the mile, the Skyhawk pair of Alexis Grandys and Erica Fisher finished first and second. Grandys posted a PR time of 5:07.4 to claim the event title while Fisher tallied a PR of her own at 5:09.11 as the runner-up. In the men's race, Alex Schell recorded his own PR at 4:22.97 to finish fourth.
UT Martin wrapped up its top performances with Ryan Ford winning the 3k by a sizable margin with a time of 8:35.53.
The Skyhawks will return to action next weekend at the Pittsburg State Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 1
