The University of Tennessee at Martin women's basketball team will look to cap off its season-long four-game homestand with a matchup against Ohio Valley Conference foe Austin Peay on Saturday, Jan. 18. Tipoff from the Kathleen and Tom Elam Center is scheduled for 2 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
The Skyhawks (9-7, 5-0 OVC) enter the contest riding a five-game winning streak to sit atop the OVC standings. UT Martin ranks as the league's top offense, averaging 83.6 points per game while posting an average margin of victory of 21.8 points per game. In the team's most recent contest, UT Martin dominated Murray State in nearly every phase of the game, scoring a season-high 98 points while shooting 54.3 percent from the field and forcing the Racers to commit 23 turnovers.
Reining OVC Player of the Week Chelsey Perry tallied her second straight game with at least 30 points. Ranking as the league's top player five times this season, Perry ranks eighth nationally and first in the OVC with 21.3 points per game. During OVC play alone, she is averaging 26.8 points, 10.0 rebounds and 4.2 blocks per game.
Austin Peay (10-6, 1-4 OVC) is in search of its second win in league play after struggling on the road at Southeast Missouri, falling by a final score of 81-43 on Thursday night. The Governors would jump out to a hot start, shooting 88 percent from the field in the first quarter before going cold and shooting just 18.9 percent for the remainder of the contest. Senior forward Arielle Gonzalez-Varner ranks as the team's top player, averaging 12.0 points and 8.8 rebounds per game.
Saturday's contest marks the 91st meeting between the two programs with Austin Peay holding a narrow 46-44 advantage. UT Martin has controlled the series as of late, winning 15 of the last 18 meetings – including a 69-61 road matchup back on Jan. 4.
The game will be streamed live on ESPN+ with Tom Britt (play-by-play) and Chris Brinkley (analyst) also bringing the radio call on WCMT 1410 AM/100.5 FM. Links for video, audio and live stats are located at the top of the webpage.
