UT MARTIN RISES TO THE OCCASION WITH STRONG SHOWING AT OVC OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIP

With three days of differing weather conditions, the Skyhawks didn't let wet running conditions on Saturday hold the squad back. While the weather was delightful on Thursday evening, rain moved into the area throughout Friday before proving to be quite substantial throughout Saturday's finals competition.
The Skyhawks saw their first finals appearance come on Thursday night under the twilight as junior Lydia Lee posted a 10th place finish with a time of 38:22.72. The in action on Friday, freshman Jalynn Landversicht tallied a top-10 finish of her own her first championship experience with a distance of 1.64m in the women's high jump. Also on Friday, sophomore Tim Dye finished ninth in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 9:35.96.
On Championship Saturday, the Skyhawks began action with junior Oisin O'Gailin beginning his eventful day with a fourth place finish behind a season-best time of 3:50.20 in the men's 1500m finals. He then later came back to compete in the men's 5000m to shatter his previous 5k time and earn silver with a time of 14:36.83.

Next it was freshman Brady Fry's turn to steal the show. After an impressive OVC Indoor Championship appearance, he continued his strong championship performances by finishing second in the men's 110m hurdles with a time of 15.04. A pair of freshmen put the Skyhawk women's team on the board in the women's 5000m. After holding steady in the second racing pack for much of the event, Alexis Grandys surged towards the front down the stretch to narrowly miss a podium finish with a time of 17:26.32 to rank fourth.
