WACO, Texas – For the second straight year, University of Tennessee at Martin sophomore Noel Meadows has been spotlighted as the best of the best as the National Collegiate Equestrian Association announced its Ariat All-American list today.
One year after the Staunton, Va. native became the first rider in school history to earn a NCEA All-American honorable mention nod in reining, Meadows was named as one of four 2019 All-American reining first teamers today. She becomes the first Skyhawk to ever nab All-American first team status and is just the second UT Martin representative to claim All-American status more than once – joining Kara Bergenty (second team equitation on the flat in 2013, honorable mention equitation over fences in 2012).
Today's announcement is the latest in a long string of accolades for Meadows, who was recently the first Skyhawk to be crowned United Equestrian Conference Reining Rider of the Year. She also earned All-UEC honors in that event, capturing a team-high seven wins and two MOP's on her way to a 66.8 average score. Both of her MOP efforts came against ranked opponents, as she secured top honors against No. 8 Fresno State on Sept. 28 and No. 6 Georgia on Jan. 24.
Meadows was also the first-ever UEC Reining Freshman of the Year and was named All-UEC in reining in 2017-18. For her career, she has been named the UEC Reining Rider of the Week twice, the UEC Reining Rider of the Month twice and the NCEA Reining Rider of the Month once in her storied career.
To qualify as an Ariat NCEA All-American, an individual must have a 67 percent or higher winning percentage, excluding ties. They also must compete in a minimum of five competitions in the NCEA format and have at least an adjusted NRS score of 85 for flat, 90 for fences, 77 for reining or 80 for horsemanship.
