
UT MARTIN REPRESENTED ALL-AROUND AS FULL BRACKET UNVEILED FOR UPCOMING NCEA CHAMPIONSHIP IN WACO

WACO, Texas – The National Collegiate Equestrian Association released its national championship seedings this afternoon as the University of Tennessee at Martin prepares for its first round matchups on April 17 at the Extraco Events Center in Waco, Texas.

For the second straight year, the NCEA Championship format will crown a team champion as well as event titles in equitation over fences, equitation on the flat, horsemanship and reining during its event that runs from April 17-20. The final event rankings were determined by statistics (win/loss, home/away, current rank of opponent) of regular season head-to-head competition. The final four riders in each event will take part in the championship round on Saturday, April 20.

The Skyhawks' highest ranked event is reining, as UT Martin is seeded No. 7 and will take on No. 10 Delaware State at 8:30 a.m. The winner will advance to the quarterfinals to take on No. 2 Oklahoma State. This season, the Skyhawks have produced a 65.2 scoring average, 23 victories and six MOP's in that event.

UT Martin is seeded eighth in equitation on the flat and is pitted against No. 9 TCU in the opening round at 1:30 p.m. The victor will take on No. 1 Auburn in the quarterfinals. The Skyhawks have dialed up a 72.1 scoring average, 22 wins and six MOP performances in that event over the course of the season.

In horsemanship, UT Martin is slotted at No. 9 and will battle No. 8 Georgia at 2 p.m. in the first round with a trip to the quarterfinals against No. 1 Auburn on the line. As a team, the Skyhawks collected a 71.5 scoring average, 16 victories and four MOP's in that event during the 2018-19 campaign.

UT Martin was assigned the No. 14 seed in equitation over fences and will be matched up against No. 3 SMU in the first round at 8:30 a.m. The winner advances to take on either No. 6 Oklahoma State or No. 11 Baylor. The Skyhawks are responsible for a 69.7 scoring average, 16 wins and four MOP efforts in that event as a team.
