
UT MARTIN CONTINUES TO SET NEW RECORDS AT AUSTIN PEAY GOVERNORS INVITE

The Skyhawks have shown continued progress in a short window of time, competing in just their third meet of the outdoor season. One athlete who has quickly become a factor for the Skyhawks is two-sport athlete Jalynn Landversicht. In her second collegiate meet, the freshman Landvesicht broke and assumed control of the program's high jump record with a distance of 1.66m.

In the women's distance, freshman Alexis Grandys ranked as the top collegiate finisher with a time of 4:47.03. Meanwhile, freshman Breanna Roy also posted an impressive race with a sub-five time of 4:54.73.
Wrapping up on the women's side, freshman Anndrea Chester posted a strong run in the 400m hurdle event which showed continued progression.
On the men's side, Tim Dye took second in the men's 3k steeplechase with a sub-10-minute performance at 9:43.94. Following that, the Skyhawks saw Daniel Smith, Alex Schell, Joey Palumbo, Lenny Baumann and Brent Borden race to a good pack finish in the 1500m.

Another top individual performance came in the men's 110m hurdles where freshman Brady Fry won the event and set a new school record with a time of 14.74. He then returned later in the day to win the men's 400m hurdles with a time of 55.23.

Leonel Perez won the 800m run at 1:52.48 while Oisin O'Gailin wasn't far behind with a time of 1:53.14 for a new PR. Meanwhile, sprinter Kewan Slaton also ran well in the event.

Finally, freshman Will Oglesby posted a PR time by over 45 seconds all while sporting a sub-16-minute time in the 5k at 15:40.63.

"Overall, it was a great meet for the team," UT Martin head coach Peter Dalton said. "There were several new PRs and school records broken today. We are looking forward to future performances as the athletes start to reach their peak shape."
UT Martin will return to action as a team at the Georgia Tech Invitational on Friday, Apr. 19 through Saturday, Apr. 20.
