WACO, Texas – For the third consecutive week, the University of Tennessee at Martin is slotted at No. 10 in the National Collegiate Equestrian Association Farnam team rankings, which were released this afternoon.
The Skyhawks were one of five teams who did not move from last week's top-10 poll, as UT Martin has stayed at No. 10 since entering the rankings on Feb. 5. Auburn remained at No. 1 while Texas A&M, South Carolina, SMU and Baylor rounded out the top-five. Oklahoma State (No. 6), Georgia (No. 7), TCU (No. 8) and Fresno State (No. 9) followed before the Skyhawks.
UT Martin has been idle from official competition since Feb. 8 but did defeat Mississippi State by a 14-2 margin nine days ago in an exhibition. Including exhibitions, the Skyhawks have posted a 5-2 record since the calendar flipped to October 2018 with its only two setbacks coming to current No. 3 South Carolina and No. 1 Auburn.
Freshman Kelby Kane has been a force for UT Martin in the Hunter Seat discipline, as she leads the team with five wins, two MOP's and a 78.6 scoring average in equitation on the flat. In equitation over fences, she also paces the Skyhawks in victories (six) and scoring average (76.3) while Monika Zoromski has nabbed a team-best two MOP's in the event.
In horsemanship, Tess Baumann claims the team lead with a 73.6 scoring average and a pair of MOP's while Lucy Eier leads the way with five wins. UT Martin's reining squad has been led by Noel Meadows (six wins), Hannah McDonald (68.4 scoring average) and Baumann (two MOP's).
The Skyhawks' spring slate resumes on March 14 when they play host to Miami (Ohio) for an exhibition at the Ned McWherter Agricultural Pavilion.
