WACO, Texas – The University of Tennessee at Martin stayed at No. 10 in the latest National Collegiate Equestrian Association Farnam team rankings, which were released today.
The Skyhawks entered the top-10 poll last week at No. 10 and added another impressive win to their resume since then, dispatching South Dakota State by a 10-5 margin last Friday in Auburn, Ala. UT Martin also clashed against No. 1 Auburn that day, producing many good individual performances before falling 17-0.
Three more MOP honors were tacked on to the season total after win over South Dakota State, as Monika Zoromski (equitation over fences), Lucy Eier (horsemanship) and Maddie Mykolaitis (reining) posted top performances in their respective events. The Skyhawks now boast 20 overall MOP's during the 2018-19 season, evenly split with 10 in both the Hunter Seat and Western disciplines.
UT Martin has tallied 65 overall victories this season, led by 20 in the reining event. The Skyhawks' equitation on the flat lineup has garnered 17 wins and are followed by equitation over fences (15) and horsemanship (13).
One of the strengths of this UT Martin squad has been depth, as 18 different Skyhawks have generated at least one win. Eleven of those riders have dialed up at least one MOP performance.
Only four spots remained the same in this week's top-10 poll, as Auburn stayed at No. 1. SMU jumped up to No. 2 and was followed by No. 3 South Carolina, No. 4 Texas A&M, No. 5 Baylor, No. 6 Georgia, No. 7 TCU, No. 8 Oklahoma State and No. 9 Fresno State.
UT Martin continues its spring schedule on March 14 when it hosts Miami (Ohio) in an exhibition at the Ned McWherter Agricultural Pavilion.
