
UT MARTIN WOMEN’S BASKETBALL TO HOST NO. 6 LOUISVILLE ON THURSDAY NIGHT

The University of Tennessee at Martin women's basketball team will look to close out its three-game homestand with a matchup against its third nationally ranked opponent this season in No. 6/7 Louisville on Thursday, Dec. 19. Tipoff from the Kathleen and Tom Elam Center is scheduled for 6 p.m. and will be broadcast exclusively on ESPN+.
The Skyhawks (4-5) enter the matchup having posted a perfect 4-0 mark in the friendly confines of the Elam Center this season. Since 2009, UT Martin has posted a 107-24 mark at home despite going 0-4 against nationally ranked opponents. The Skyhawks are 0-35 against ranked opponents all-time.
In the team's most recent matchup, UT Martin picked up an 83-67 victory over Lipscomb. Highlighting the contest was the performance of two-time OVC Player of the Week Chelsey Perry who posted an impressive new career high with 42 points while tallying her fifth career double-double with 10 rebounds. Perry's scoring total ranked third in the NCAA this season and just the sixth 40-point performance in program history. She currently leads the team with 19.8 points, 7.4 rebounds and 2.4 blocks per game.
With the victory over Lipscomb, UT Martin head coach Kevin McMillan secured his 200th career victory. His milestone made him just the sixth basketball coach in OVC history to eclipse the 200-win plateau, joining former league greats Larry Joe Inman (545), Dave Loos (420), Bill Worrell (408), Cal Luther (319) and E.A. Diddle (296).
Louisville (10-1) enters the contest ranked sixth nationally in the Associated Press and seventh in the Coaches Poll. The perennial national championship contending Cardinals have just one loss on the season after overcoming a double-digit deficit against No. 14 Kentucky before recording a 67-66 road victory. The Cardinals are led by Dana Evans who averages 19.0 points per game while Jazmine Jones also averages in double figures with 13.3 points per game.
Thursday's contest marks the ninth meeting between the two programs in a series which dates back to 2010. Louisville has won all eight previous meetings – including the Cardinals two previous trips to Martin in 2012 (79-61) and 2016 (100-57).
