STARKVILLE, Miss. – The University of Tennessee at Martin women's basketball team continued its three-game road trip to open the season with a matchup against reigning Southeastern Conference champion and nationally ranked No. 10 Mississippi State on Monday night.
The Skyhawks (0-2) proved to be overmatched against a lengthy and talented Bulldog squad. UT Martin would shoot 30 percent from the field and just 17 percent from beyond the arc.
UT Martin saw two players score in double figures, led by the play of junior guard Zaire Hicks who paced the squad with 12 points. Sophomore forward Damiah Griffin also scored in double-digits for the second straight game with 10 points and eight rebounds.

Mississippi State (2-0) shot 56 percent from the floor while knocking down 58 percent of its three-point attempts. The Bulldogs would capitalize on the Skyhawks 20 turnovers by scoring 29 points in transition while outrebounding their opponents by nine.
UT Martin will put the finishing touches on its road trip on Thursday, Nov. 14 with a matchup at nationally ranked Gonzaga.
