WACO, Texas – There was little movement in the latest edition of the National Collegiate Equestrian Association Farnam team rankings released today as the University of Tennessee at Martin remained in the 10th slot.
The top five selections were unchanged, as Auburn retained its No. 1 spot and was followed by No. 2 Texas A&M, No. 3 Georgia, No. 4 Oklahoma State and No. 5 SMU. South Carolina moved to No. 6 while No. 7 TCU, No. 8 Baylor and No. 9 Fresno State followed suit ahead of UT Martin.
The Skyhawks have been out of action for nearly two weeks, as UT Martin opened its season with back-to-back home competitions against No. 1 Auburn and No. 4 Oklahoma State on Sept. 19-20.
In flat, Abbie Hopkins boasts the Skyhawks' lone win on the season while Quinn Reed and Randi LaChance share the team lead with a 78.5 scoring average. Hopkins also accounts for UT Martin's only point in fences as Kelby Kane is responsible for a team-high 78 points to round out the top Jumping Seat performers.
The Skyhawks have earned a pair of wins in horsemanship, as Paige Benson and Tess Baumann have each emerged victorious. Meanwhile, Bailey Newlin's 75.3 scoring average in the event paves the way for UT Martin. Baumann is also the team leader in reining, earning the team's lone win and a team-high 70.3 scoring average in the Western event.
The Skyhawks are back in action this Friday, Oct. 4 when they head north to Oxford, Ohio for an exhibition against Miami (Ohio).
