The University of Tennessee at Martin women's basketball team will look to build upon its strong play at home when playing host to Ohio Valley Conference foe Austin Peay on Saturday, Jan. 12. Tipoff from the Kathleen and Tom Elam Center is scheduled for 1 p.m. and can be seen on ESPN+.
The Skyhawks enter Saturday's contest with a 10-4 overall mark while sitting 2-1 in the league standings after a strong victory over Murray State on Thursday evening. UT Martin would force the Racers into 22 turnovers in the contest while notching 11 steals. Three different players scored in double figures in the contest behind a big game from senior guard Emanye Robertson who posted a career-high with 24 points, eight assists, five rebounds and two steals against the Racers. With the game, Robertson currently sits with 985 career points and needs just 15 points to become the program's 15th 1,000-point scorer in history.
UT Martin has tallied 240 home victories since 1995, making the friendly confines of the Elam Center a daunting place for visiting teams. During head coach Kevin McMillan's tenure, the Skyhawks have posted a 96-23 record at home for an .807 winning percentage. The Skyhawks have also posted a 67-10 home record against OVC foes during the same span.
Austin Peay is 7-7 on the season while sitting 2-1 in the league standings. After sweeping the opening week of the conference season, the Governors fell on the road at Southeast Missouri on Thursday by a final score of 65-54. The Governors are led offensively by Keisha Gregory (13.0 ppg, 4.9 rpg) and Arielle Gonzalez-Varner (12.6 ppg, 8.2 rpg).
Saturday's game marks the 88th meeting between the two programs with Austin Peay holding a 46-41 series advantage. Despite the narrow margin, the Skyhawks are 14-5 against the Governors under the direction of 10th-year head coach Kevin McMillan.
The game will be televised live on ESPN+. Fans can also tune into WCMT 1410 AM, 100.5 FM, 92.7 FM, 96.1 FM, 99.7 FM and 103.3 FM to hear Tom Britt (play-by-play) and Chris Brinkley (color) provide analysis.
