MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin women's basketball team used its home court at the Kathleen and Tom Elam Center to its advantage on Thursday night, remaining unbeaten at home with a 75-67 victory against Murray State.
The Skyhawks improved to 10-4 on the season while moving to 2-1 in Ohio Valley Conference play with a strong home victory. UT Martin would force Murray State into 22 turnovers in the contest while notching 11 steals.
UT Martin saw three different players score in double figures, led by senior guard Emanye Robertson with a season-high 24 points while tallying eight assists and five rebounds. With the strong night, Robertson sits with 985 career points, just 15 points off becoming the program's 15th 1,000-point career scorer. Meanwhile the freshman duo of Brittni Moore (12 points) and Damiah Griffin (11 points) combined to score 23 points off the bench.
"I thought that was a weird game because neither team really had a flow and we were kind of lucky to hold on there at the end," UT Martin head coach Kevin McMillan said. "Any win you can get it in this league is good and hopefully we can build off of it."
Murray State dropped to 5-9 on the season and 1-2 in league play with the decision. Junior transfer Evelyn Adebayo notched yet another double-double with 25 points and 12 rebounds to lead all scorers. Freshman guard Macey Turley also scored in double figures, tallying 11 points and six rebounds in the contest.
UT Martin will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 12 when matching up against OVC foe Austin Peay. Tipoff from the Elam Center is scheduled for 1 p.m.
