The University of Tennessee at Martin women's basketball will hit the road for its third consecutive road contest on a four-game road swing with a matchup against No. 4 ranked Louisville on Tuesday, Dec. 4. Tipoff from the KFC Yum! Center is scheduled for 6 p.m. CST and can be seen on ACC Network Extra.
The Skyhawks (5-2) enter the contest after notching a big comeback road victory at Chattanooga their last time out. Despite trailing for over 35 minutes in the contest, UT Martin found the winning touch down the stretch behind the play of the team's senior guard Emanye Robertson. Ranking as the team's lone senior, Robertson not only tied the game with five seconds to play but later hit the game-winner with 0.2 seconds on the clock to lift the Skyhawks to an 81-79 victory.
UT Martin is averaging 86.6 points per game on the season which ranks 10th nationally while also ranking 10th in the NCAA with 92 steals on the season. Sophomore Chelsey Perry leads the team offensively with 12.1 points per game while the newcomer duo of freshman Damiah Griffin (11.9 ppg) and junior Aundrea Adams (10.7) also average in double figures for the Skyhawks.
Louisville enters the matchup with a perfect 8-0 record and ranks fourth in the nation. The Cardinals have beaten their opponents by an average of 22.5 points per game – including a 107-52 thrashing of Ohio Valley Conference foe Tennessee State on Sunday afternoon. UL is paced by one of the nation's best players in Asia Durr who is averaging 21.4 points per game while Sam Fuehring also scores in double figures with 11.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per game.
Tuesday's matchup with mark the eighth meeting between the two programs in series history with Louisville holding a perfect 7-0 advantage. The Cardinals have been ranked in five of the eight meetings while the Skyhawks are looking for their first win against a nationally ranked foe in program history – entering the contest with a 0-34 mark.
