TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Junior standout Ryan Ford put a nice exclamation point on his cross country season by garnering First Team All-South Region honors with a 14th place finish at the NCAA South Region Championships held at Apalachee Region Park in Tallahasse, Fla. this morning.
Ford posted one of the best meets of the season in a stretched out 10k against nationally ranked competitors and finished 14th overall in a meet which included 157 competitors. With a time of 31:47.4, Ford ranked the second best performance for the Skyhawks at the NCAA South Region Championships in school history, narrowing missing out on a NCAA Championship berth.
The Skyhawks also saw promising runs from the trio of Marcos Macias, Lenny Baumann and Will Oglesby to preview a strong future for the men's squad. As a team, the Skyhawks finished 16th, just outside the top-15 regionally.

On the women's side, the squad was once again highlighted by youth as each of the top three scorers are just freshmen. Breanna Alderton paced the group with a top-100 finish with a time of 22:41.5 in the 6k while Alexis Grandys and Breanna Roy also ran strong in their debut at the national level.

"Ryan deserved it," UT Martin head coach Peter Dalton said. "For two years he has worked diligent and quietly, while trusting fulling in the process and that showed today. For the teams, there's lot more to come with both squads being very young and all of our scorers returning next year."
