Hailing from Olive Branch, Miss., Mark Guy competed from 1983-84 and 1987-88. He was a veteran playmaker on a squad which went 11-2, won the program's lone Gulf South Conference championship and earned a Division II quarterfinalist berth in 1988. Along with finishing as runner-up for GSC Freshman of the Year in 1983, he showed his versatility by contributing on offense as a wide receiver, on defense as a cornerback and as a kickoff return specialist. He finished his career with 117 career tackles, including 65 assists and 51 solo stops, while adding 11 pass breakups, four blocked kicks (including one returned for a touchdown), three fumble recoveries and an interception on defense. Switching to receiver for his senior season, he tallied 18 receptions for 247 yards and three touchdowns while averaging 13.7 yards per catch. On special teams, he returned 35 kickoffs for 573 yards while averaging 16.3 yards per return. Following his collegiate career, he enjoyed success in both the Canadian Football League and Arena Football League where he played for three titles and won two. He helped the Saskatchewan Roughriders claim the 1989 Grey Cup championship after tallying 100 receiving yards and 127 kickoff return yards in the contest before adding another championship with the Detroit Drive at Arena Bowl VI.
