- Email:
Danny Modelski enters the 2026 season in a prominent new role on the UT Martin football staff, having been elevated to offensive coordinator after serving as the Skyhawks’ passing game coordinator and quarterbacks coach in 2025.
In his first two seasons as pass game coordinator for the Skyhawks, he oversaw the development of a pair of OVC-Big South all-conference selections in Kinkead Dent (2024) and Jase Bauer (2025).
In his first season with the Skyhawks in 2024, Modelski worked with an offense that produced one of the most prolific seasons in program history. UT Martin set school records for total offense with 5,249 yards and first downs with 255, while also producing 28 rushing touchdowns. The Skyhawks averaged 31.4 points per game to lead the Big South-OVC Football Association and converted 87.8 percent of their red-zone opportunities, also the best mark in the league.
Then in 2025, efficiency was the name of the game as UT Martin ranked among national leaders in passes had intercepted (first, 3), red zone offense (second, 94.1 percent), completion percentage (second, 70.7 percent) and turnovers lost (10th, 10).
Modelski’s coaching experience includes working with accomplished quarterbacks at multiple levels of college football, including his time at Mississippi State, where he worked alongside offensive coordinator Kevin Barbay and helped mentor Will Rogers, who established the SEC career completions record.
Prior to his arrival at UT Martin, Modelski spent the 2023 season as an offensive graduate assistant at Mississippi State, working primarily with quarterbacks and running backs while also serving as an offensive signal caller. He previously spent the 2021 and 2022 seasons as a graduate assistant at Central Michigan, where he worked with quarterbacks and offensive coordinators Kevin Barbay and Paul Petrino. During his time with the Chippewas, Modelski was part of the staff that guided Central Michigan to a victory in the 2021 Sun Bowl.
Modelski began his coaching career at Northwestern, serving as a scouting assistant and assistant to offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Mick McCall during the 2018-19 academic year. He later returned to Northwestern as a defensive quality control assistant during the 2020-21 season after spending the 2019-20 campaign in a similar role at Brown.
A native of Hoffman Estates, Illinois, Modelski was a two-year starting quarterback at Conant High School, where he earned IHSA All-State honors. He went on to play collegiately at Illinois College, earning his bachelor’s degree in communications and rhetorical studies in 2017. He later earned a master’s degree in administration leadership from Central Michigan in 2022.
